MARYLAND
MEMORY
QUILTS
Lifekeeper Memory Quilts are made up of squares depicting the lives of
loved ones who have been taken by suicide. The purpose of the quilts is to
show a "picture of suicide" that will serve as a visual image of
the huge number of suicides that occur in America today (over 32,000 every
year). These quilts have been displayed all over the United States, even
on the steps of the Capitol in Washington D.C. Wherever they go, the power
of the quilts to touch, heal, liberate, and empower is amazing. Quilts are
now being put together for each state and many specialty groups.
The Maryland State Quilts will represent the State of Maryland at the
annual SPAN National Conference in Washington D.C. We hope to increase the
Maryland public's awareness of suicide by displaying the quilts at
conferences, schools, and public events.
