Colonel Mary Kim Ward joined the Baltimore County Police Department in 1981.
Since March 2000, Colonel Ward has headed the Baltimore County Police Department’s Operations Bureau. Her prior assignments include the Services Bureau, Intelligence and Internal Affairs, Personnel, Employment, and Training. She has held numerous precinct assignments at various ranks.
Colonel Ward has been involved in many local and national forums and seminars, including the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at the Kennedy School of Government. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. In addition, Colonel Ward is a member of numerous organizations focusing on law enforcement and leadership.
Colonel Ward holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from Towson State University, Towson, Maryland, and a master's degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Johns Hopkins University.
